Alright folks, the 10 hour detour is probably a lot of fun, and I'm sure the Steamboat businesses are psyched about this stimulus package, but it's evident you need to bring in some experts to finish the job. Now, I know some fellas that are real handy with a prybar and a wall hammer, and I bet we'd do ok with some explosives as well.

Over the past several weeks I have been working on the guidebook. Many of the descriptions have been written and it is starting to come together. It’s my hope that the community will be behind what I produce and I feel there is no better way to do that then to involve all of [...]

Dear Steph,
What you do is the symbolization of power of mind and strength.
I am also into climbing, but nowhere near your level. I have not even tried free soloing. I am also into skydiving and skiing, the latter being the only sport I can actually conquer my limits at for fear does not hold me [...]

The weather continues to be poor. It’s been difficult finding anywhere dry to climb, which is rare for this time of year. This is the snowiest Colorado winter in my memory. Saturday, we went to Newlin Creek, but everything was totally wet. Sunday, I did a nice problem near the Primo Wall in [...]

ClimbingNarc.com is arguably the most popular climbing blog out there, with a loyal following that goes into depression when the site goes down for the weekend. I recently caught up with Brian Runnells, the Climbing Narc himself, to talk about the site and being a climber in the Midwest.

Mountains and Water on 03/09/10
The weather finally cleared up on the weekend so I was able to boulder outside. The snow has been so persistent that only very sun-exposed features at Flagstaff were climbable. Saturday especially was the day that the crowds really hit the mountain, not climbers so much as beer-drinking high school kids. I felt really tired and couldn't climb much of interest. However a shout out to OSMP for sandblasting the graffiti off the traverse on the backside of the Amphitheater

For many, February is the heart of the ice climbing season. And indeed, it is about now that ice tools, crampons and ice screws start to get dull. As expected, the Canadian Guide, Mike Barter, has a great series of videos on the topic. He spends a good chunk of the first video talking about the history of ice screws, before he goes into how to sharpen them.
And of course, as with most of Mike's videos, he can't help throwing in something a little bit funny at the end of the...
